Bogotá — 60% of people surveyed by Ipsos in the world expect that products and services that use AI “profoundly change your daily life in the next 3 to 5 years”, while a significant share has already experienced the benefits of this technology.

A recent survey conducted by Ipsos for the World Economic Forum concluded that “Six in ten also agree that products and services using AI make their lives easier.”

Meanwhile, “four in ten adults admit that AI-based products and services make them nervous”, according to data collected in 28 countries.

The survey was applied by Ipsos to 19,504 adults under the age of 75 and was conducted on its Global Advisor online platform between November 19 and December 3, 2021.

Asked if products and services that use artificial intelligence have more benefits than drawbacks, 64% of those surveyed in Colombia agreed with that statement.

This percentage is higher than that of Chile (63%), South Korea (62%), Turkey (60%), Brazil (57%), South Africa (57%) or Argentina (55%), but less than China (78%), Saudi Arabia (76%), India (71%), Peru (70%), Mexico and Malaysia (both with 65%).

Ipsos highlights that its survey reveals “a clear divide between high-income and emerging countries in attitudes towards AI.”

It is so “citizens of emerging countries are significantly more likely than those of more economically developed countries to report knowing about AI, to trust companies using AI and to have a positive outlook on the impact of AI-powered products and services on their lives.”

In the Colombian case, 71% of those consulted said that they have a good understanding of what artificial intelligence is.

Ipsos made a list of activities that can be changed by artificial intelligence, including education / learning new things, security, employment, shopping, transportation and entertainment.

It also included cost of living, home, income, environment, food/nutrition, personal and family relationships, and freedom/legal rights.

By the way, the countries that would have the largest number of impacted areas according to the survey are South Africa (4.22), Colombia (4,05), Peru (4.03), Malaysia (3.99), Turkey (3.95), India (3.92), Mexico (3.88), Chile (3.86), China (3.85), Argentina (3.71), Brazil (3.60), among others.
